He holds a B.S. degree from University of Washington, and a Ph.D. degree in geology from Penn State University. Dr. Steve Austin will point out the significance of the geological changes we see from the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, through the new geological features that have formed over the last 34 years.

Dr. Steve Austin is a field research geologist with a Ph.D. in geology.  His quest to understand the sedimentary processes that formed rocks and fossils has launched explorations onto six of the world’s seven continents. His research adventures have taken him by helicopter into the crater of Mount St. Helens volcano, by bush plane onto glaciers in the high mountains of Alaska, by raft through the entire Grand Canyon, on horseback into the high Sierra, by elevator into the world’s deepest coal mines, by SCUBA onto the Great Barrier Reef, by rail into the backcountry of Korea, by canoe into coastal swamps of Australia, by foot onto barren plateaus of southern Argentina, and by ATV into remote archaeological digs of the Middle East.  He likes to climb high mountain peaks.  Lightning, mudflows, avalanches, volcanic eruptions, boiling creeks, quicksand, flash floods, blizzards, crocodiles, and venomous snakes are all hazards he has experienced during his quests.

Geology students know Dr. Austin for his extraordinary field trips and field teaching events.  With students he has launched 22 raft trips through Grand Canyon.  Dr. Austin’s field research within Grand Canyon includes over 400 nights (one year) camped out below the Canyon’s rim. While advising a Ph.D. candidate on a geology project 15 years ago, he started mapping large squid fossils within a limestone stratum of Grand Canyon.  Now he has mapped the squid-bearing limestone layer a distance of 200 miles through Grand Canyon to Las Vegas.  One paleontologist said, “Dr. Austin has seen more large fossil squid than anyone else on Earth.”  Dr. Austin is well known for field research and field trips at Mount St. Helens, and he produced a DVD illustrating these adventures.  Dead Sea sediment in Israel and Jordan are revealing the sequence of earthquakes mentioned in the Bible.  Laminated Dead Sea sediment shows earthquake disturbances, the one assignable to 33 AD is likely the earthquake at the crucifixion of Christ.  Working with archaeologists in Israel and Jordan, Dr. Austin believe he has found the lost cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.  In southern Argentina, Dr Austin has retraced the 1834 route of Charles Darwin and the crew of HMS Beagle on the journey up the Santa Cruz River.

He is the author of three books, three videos, one computer software package, and more than forty technical geology papers.

Dr. Austin teaches geology at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, and is Senior Research Geologist with Logos Research Associates, Costa Mesa, California.  He is also President of Austin Research Consulting, Inc, and President of Creation Geology Society.

Dr. Steve Austin is married to Kelly M. Austin, M.D.  Dr. Kelly Austin teaches surgery at University of Pittsburgh, and she is Director of the Pediatric Advanced Critical Care Fellowship at Children’s Hospital Pittsburgh.

Bruce Malone has taught at Baptist, Assembly of God, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, Evangelical Free, and many independent churches; bringing both seminars and Sunday morning messages. He has traveled to Ottawa, Canada and Durban, South Africa on creation lecture tours and spoken on creation during mission trips to Lithuania and the Philippines. Bruce has been a speaker at national bible conferences such as Steeling the Mind of America and numerous youth events and college campuses. Contact him at (989) 837-5546 to arrange a speaking engagement at your church or organization.

Mr. Malone has been lecturing on the scientific evidence and relevance of creation at churches, colleges, schools, and conferences for over 15 years. After encountering resistance to allowing the evidence for biblical creation, even in many churches, Bruce started purchasing space in public newspapers to present the evidence. This lead effort resulted in the formation of Search for the Truth Publications which has published four books on the subject of creation, absolute truth, and the reliability of the Bible. These books currently have over 40,000 copies in print. Permission is granted for reproduction of almost all materials produced by Search for the Truth Ministries at no cost.

Bruce was born in 1957 and has been a Christian for approximately 20 years. He works as a research leader for Dow Chemical where he has worked on new product developments for 24 years. He has a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and holds 19 patents with Dow. Bruce and his wife, Robin, have been married for 23 years and have 4 children – Michael, Marc, Margaret, and Matthew. The Malone’s have been in Midland for 10 years and attend the Christian Celebration Center.

Search for the Truth Ministries is a non-profit organization dedicated to making the relevance of creation understandable and motivational to the typical “man on the street”, and the beliefs that:

  • How we deal with creation is the pivotal issue that will determine the future direction of Western civilization
  • Understanding the biblical worldview (that creation, the fall, and a global flood are real events of the past) gives a factual foundation for dealing with every other social issue including homosexuality, abortion, and euthanasia
